Murray Hill Institute’s 10th anniversary conference will celebrate the accomplishments and explore the challenges faced by women leaders in the 21st century. The aim of the conference is to promote strong and ethical leadership among women by offering guidelines and information they can apply to any stage of their careers.

Experts in leadership training, together with women currently holding leadership positions in a variety of professions will share their experiences and offer advice for current and aspiring leaders. They will describe how they have met the challenges of the past decade, including the special qualities and skills it takes to lead and inspire others.

Breakout groups and panel discussions will provide participants with a chance to reflect on their own leadership aspirations and to explore questions such as:

  • What does it take to be a woman who leads others?
  • Does every woman have the potential to be a leader?
  • Are leaders born or made?
  • What qualities do most women share that uniquely equip them to be effective leaders?
  • Can these same qualities become pitfalls that hamper effective leadership?
  • How does one set goals that help develop leadership skills in oneself and others?

Shackleton’s Way—Leadership Lessons from the Great Antarctic Explorer

Margot Morrell is co-author of the best-selling Shackleton’s Way: Leadership Lessons from the Great Antarctic Explorer. Shipwrecked in Antarctica, Sir Ernest Shackleton faced many of the problems encountered by today’s leaders. Even before publication, Shackleton’s Way caused a stir when the book catapulted to #1 on Amazon’s yet-to-be-published list and, on arrival in bookstores, jumped to the top of The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Business Week business best-seller lists. Shackleton’s Way has sold over 300,000 copies and is available in ten languages.

A recognized expert on leadership, Margot Morrell has worked in management consulting, executive search and financial services. She holds a degree in art history from Newton College of the Sacred Heart and a master’s degree from Simmons College.

Ms. Morrell has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Globe and Mail. The programs sponsored by the Institute are inspired by the thought and work of Saint Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei, and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Its programs are open to individuals of all races, creeds and ethnic backgrounds.
