Call For Papers

Women and Authentic Human Development

Murray Hill Institute invites papers that address the role of women in the development of the human person, society, and history. The theme of this call for papers is broad enough to be examined by women in different professions, as well as various faith traditions. Papers might examine topics such as: the meaning of development; the meaning of authentic human development; economic development; social development; moral and spiritual development; cultural development; professional development; women, family, and the home; women in education; women in law; women in medicine; medicine, technology, and ethics; poverty and a just distribution of goods; solidarity and concern for the common good; immigration and cultural assimilation; human rights; religious freedom; terrorism and war; the path to peace; culture of death and violence; culture of life; feminism and liberation; friendship, affection, and love; the integration of emotions and reason; empathy.

By January 10, 2004 please send paper or an essay proposal of no more than two pages in length (double- spaced) to Alice Ramos at papers@murrayhillinstitute.org. Submissions should be made in Microsoft Word.

Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision via e-mail by February 10, 2004.

Completed papers of 12 to 15 double-spaced pages will be due on April 20, 2004, and will be posted on the Murray Hill Institute website shortly thereafter.

A special invitation is extended to graduate students. A stipend of $250 will be awarded to the best paper submission by a graduate student. Students interested in competing for this stipend are requested to send their completed essays, not to exceed 12 double spaced pages, by April 1, 2004 to Alice Ramos at papers@murrayhillinstitute.org.
